Precision in view: symbol for the exact fit of BolusCare

Precision in view

Every contour recognized. Every adjustment exact.

BolusCare captures every anatomical curve, every recess, every individual contour — and conforms directly to the skin. Massively reduced air gap, significantly less need for fixation: a surface that lies exactly as planned.

The next generation of bolus in radiotherapy

Precision that adapts to the patient.

Precise. Flexible. Ready to use instantly.
BolusCare is a moldable two-component bolus that is fitted directly to complex anatomical contours and integrated into the CT-based workflow — no printer, no software, no waiting time.

The clinical problem

A bolus should sit against the skin. Not bridge over it.

Conventional bolus sheets can lift away from complex contours and often require additional fixation. Even the smallest air gaps between skin and bolus can change the actual applied surface dose by 10–20 %.

Conventional bolus Conventional rigid bolus sheet, fixed over the eye with textile tape

Rigid sheet + fixation

Pre-formed material adapts only partially to individual anatomy and must be positioned with adhesive tape — risking variable air gaps at every fraction.

BolusCare BolusCare fitted directly and without folds to cheek and eye region, with significantly reduced need for fixation

Direct adaptation

The material is shaped directly on the patient and lies against the skin without folds — reproducible over the entire course of treatment, with significantly less need for additional fixation.

How BolusCare works

From mixing to reproducible application.

Four steps from everyday clinical practice to treatment planning — no additional equipment or lead time required.

01 / Mix

Combine components

A and B are kneaded together in a 1:1 ratio until a uniform color is achieved.

Shape directly on the patient

Within about one minute, the material is shaped to the individual patient.

Capture in the CT

After curing (approx. 5 min.), the bolus is captured in the planning CT and integrated into treatment planning.

Use across fractions

The shaped, dimensionally stable bolus form is used for the patient's subsequent treatment fractions.

Why BolusCare?

Less complexity. More control.

Developed for radiation oncologists, medical physicists and radiation therapists — for use from breast cancer to head and neck tumors.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers. Quickly found.

Everything important about application, procurement and approval of BolusCare.

A bolus in radiotherapy is a tissue-equivalent material applied to the skin to specifically increase the radiation dose at the surface.

BolusCare consists of a two-component system that adapts individually to the anatomy and enables uniform contact with significantly reduced air gaps.

Air gaps can distort the radiation dose and reduce the effectiveness of treatment.

No. BolusCare can be integrated into CT-based planning (~1,200 HU), so a fixed thickness is not required.

BolusCare offers massively reduced air gaps, simple application, flexible adaptation, no additional equipment and integration into modern CT planning.

Thermoplastic bolus materials are rigid and time-consuming. BolusCare is flexible, faster and easier to apply.

Yes. BolusCare requires no software or equipment and is ready to use immediately.
